Ron Day has been building exclusively by commission for 25 years, working with clients to create furniture which is not only utilitarian but which also displays, in Ron's words, "clean lines, harmonious proportions, subtle detailing, and the beauty of natural wood." His background in both art and furniture repair gives him a solid foundation for original design combined with functionality.

He enjoys personal interaction with his clients, finding that leads to creative satisfaction for everyone. He says of this way of working: "clients usually come to me because they haven't found what they want in showrooms, catalogs or other media. We work together in the design process, a close relationship in which I guide and suggest, to give form to the clients' ideas."

His work has appeared in a number of national magazines including House Beautiful, Fine Homebuilding, Home Furniture, and Wood Digest. He participates in Open Studios, a Santa Cruz County juried invitational for craftspeople held once a year. He is also featured in the Custom Furniture Source Book from Taunton Press, released in the fall of 2001.

For recreation, Ron enjoys hiking and camping, bicycling, and travel with his wife Sandy. A long-time hobby, to the delight of his friends and family, is cartooning.
